High Pt hadron-hadron correlations

چکیده

We propose the formulation of a dihadron fragmentation function in terms of parton matrix elements. Under the collinear factorization approximation and facilitated by the cut-vertex technique, the two hadron inclusive cross section at leading order (LO) in e+ eannihilation is shown to factorize into a short distance parton cross section and the long distance dihadron fragmentation function. We also derive the DGLAP evolution equation of this function at leading log. The evolution equation for the non-singlet and singlet quark fragmentation function and the gluon fragmentation function are solved numerically with the initial condition taken from event generators. Modifications to the dihadron fragmentation function from higher twist corrections in DIS off nuclei are computed. Results are presented for cases of physical interest. High pT Probes of Dense Matter Created in Heavy Ion Collisions at RHIC

An overview of recent high-pT hadron and photon measurements at RHIC is presented with a focus on the evolution of hadron/photon production from intermediate pT (. 5 GeV/c) to high pT (> 10 GeV/c). Addressed topics include single high-pT hadron production, azimuthal anisotropy of π production, di-jet modification at intermediate pT and inclusive photon-hadron correlations. The understanding of ...

Probing Cold and Hot, Dense Nuclear Media Via High-pT Jets with Di-hadron and γ-hadron Correlations at PHENIX

With the recent high statistics Au+Au and Cu+Cu runs at RHIC, it has become possible to systematically study jet properties in several different colliding systems with potentially different final state interactions. In this talk we present results from high-pT di-hadron and γ-hadron correlations from p+p, d+Au, Cu+Cu, and Au+Au collisions where jets in vacuum, cold nuclear matter, and hot, dens...

PHENIX Measurement of High-pT Hadron-hadron and Photon-hadron Azimuthal Correlations

High-pT hadron-hadron correlations have been measured with the PHENIX experiment in Cu + Cu and p + p collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV. A comparison of the jet widths and yields between the two colliding systems allows us to study the medium effect on jets. We also present a first measurement of direct photon-hadron correlations in Au + Au and p + p collisions. We find that the near-side yields ar...

Recent high-pT results from STAR

We present selected recent results of multi-hadron correlation measurements in azimuth and pseudorapidity at intermediate and high pT in Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV, from the STAR experiment at RHIC. At intermediate pT , measurements are presented that attempt to determine the origin of the associated near-side (small ∆φ) yield at large pseudo-rapidity difference ∆η that is found to be ...

High pT Hadron Correlation and No Correlation

An overview of the correlation among high-pT hadrons produced in heavy-ion collisions is presented. Emphasis is placed on the physical processes that can quantitatively account for the data on correlations in pT , η and φ on the near and far sides. Predictions are made on processes that have no observable correlations for hadrons produced at intermediate and higher pT at RHIC and LHC.

Two- and Three-Particle Correlations With an Intermediate or High-pT Trigger Particle

Currently at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) protons have been collided at energies of up to 7 TeV and lead ions at energies up to 2.76 TeV per nucleon pair. These collisions produce an explosion of many particles and there are many ways to study them. One method is to look at jets. We, in particular, are looking at correlations of particles with an intermediate or high-pT trigger particle. The...
